We climb out of the Central Valley past coffee farms, ferns, flowers and strawberry stands to the main crater of Poás and its sulfur fumaroles.
Lunch and the coffee tour happen at Doka Estate. On the way back we stop in Grecia, with its red metal church, and in Sarchí, where the painted oxcarts are still made by hand.
